The County Hotel has kept its special place in Hexham life, for several generations. For many years it was in the centre of the thriving cattle market in Hexham, with its small bar offering a venue for local farmers to complete the days trading over a celebratory drink.

Today, The County is on one of the main thoroughfares of Hexham, within walking distance of the Abbey, dating from 674 AD. The town’s historic Market Place and the award winning Parks await your exploration before a drink in Argyle’s followed by dinner in our restaurant and bed, gaining the energy needed for the full Northumbrian breakfast to follow!

Operated by the Harding Family since July 2000, The County looks forward to welcoming you, with warm, soft furnishings and relaxed surroundings, offering a comfortable place to stop whilst exploring Northumberland or doing business in the town and surrounding area.

The Northumberland countryside, treasured for its breathtaking scenery, is recognised for its close connection with the Romans, Early Christianity in England and The Border Reivers.

Hadrian's Wall is within easy reach and The County is ideally situated for visits to the areas where history was made, battles fought and treason punished. Hexham is also a convenient location for visiting Corbridge, Kielder Water, Hexham Races and some of the UK’s best golf courses.
